Francesco Macri Names Squad For UEFA European U19 Championship Qualifiers

Malta Under-19 National Team Head Coach Francesco Macri has announced the squad for the upcoming UEFA European U19 Championship Qualifiers away in North Macedonia.
The team will be travelling to take on North Macedonia, Northern Ireland, and Switzerland in Group B5 of the competition’s first round in the space of a few days.
The first match will see Malta take on Switzerland on Wednesday 11th November at the Mladost Stadium in Strumica, with kick-off at 13:00hrs CET. This will then be followed by another clash at the same stadium, this time against Northern Ireland on Saturday 14th November, kicking off at 13:00hrs CET.
Malta’s qualifying campaign in the group will come to an end on Tuesday 17th November when they take on hosts North Macedonia. That match will be played at the Kukus Stadium in Turnovo, with kick-off at 12:00hrs.
The team is coming off the back of a packed September-October international window, during which they achieved two convincing victories over Liechtenstein, as well as a credible draw and an unlucky defeat in two matches against Cyprus.
Adam Newell and Vincent Tabone are the two chosen goalkeepers, with Sami Abo Assaf, Lydon Calleja Attard, Sky Chetcuti, Ryan Debono, Aeneas Farrugia, Ben Gaerty, and Andreas Vella forming the backline.
Matteas Caruana, Sam Farrugia, Daniel Pawley, and Zyas Vella Newell form the midfield, with Denzel Attard, Luca Baldacchino, Scott Camilleri, Gunner Elliott, Matteo Paolo Grech, and Jaylen Zarb leading the frontline.
Coach Macri will be looking to continue building the young team as they gain further international experience, with three testing encounters away in North Macedonia.
