Foreign Minister Chris Fearne Joins Commonwealth Leaders For A Game Of Cricket

Who said international diplomacy has to be all about meetings and serious discussions?
Malta's Foreign Minister Chris Fearne joined fellow Commonwealth ministers and leaders for a friendly game of cricket in Antigua and Barbuda!
The sporting gathering took place ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), bringing together political leaders from different countries for some friendly competition.
Instead of the usual formal meetings, ministers and leaders swapped their suits for cricket bats, showing how sport can bring nations together.
And Malta was among the countries represented on the field!
But Fearne Had Another Reason To Celebrate!
Beyond the cricket match, Chris Fearne was re-elected to chair the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) for another two years.
But what exactly does that mean?
CMAG is responsible for ensuring Commonwealth countries respect important principles, including democracy, human rights, the rule of law and good governance.
Fearne's re-election means Malta will continue playing a leading role in this international group.
During his visit, Fearne also held meetings with representatives from several countries, including Grenada, with which Malta signed a new cooperation agreement to strengthen diplomatic relations.
The Commonwealth brings together 56 countries from across the world, giving smaller nations like Malta opportunities to build stronger international relationships.
