Football content creator Jamie Lomax Returns to Malta to Capture Historic Ħamrun Spartans Moment

Football content creator Jamie Lomax, whose ambitious mission is to visit every top‑division stadium in Europe as well as all 92 English league grounds, returned to Malta to witness one of the most historic nights in the island’s footballing journey: Ħamrun Spartans’ first-ever appearance in a European group stage. Lomax first visited Malta two years ago, squeezing five matches into two days and immersing himself in the unique atmosphere of Ta’ Qali. At the time, he believed he had seen everything Maltese football had to offer—until Ħamrun rewrote the script.
His return was as unconventional as it was committed. Leaving La Línea, he stayed in a Charlton fan’s spare room before travelling four hours by bus to Seville, where he slept on a Danish supporter’s couch. From there, he flew straight to Malta, determined not to miss a moment of history.
Lomax was welcomed by passionate Ħamrun supporters, who proudly shared what this achievement meant to their community. He also toured the new national stadium development and interviewed former Valletta player and current coach Romeu Romão.
Although the result against Lausanne‑Sport wasn’t what fans hoped for, Lomax highlighted the significance of the occasion. As club officials told him, this campaign is a learning curve and a foundation for future Maltese teams to dream even bigger.
