Floriana FC escalate legal battle after Jake Grech registration termination

Floriana FC have intensified their legal stance after the Malta Football Association terminated the registration of midfielder Jake Grech following a request submitted by the player. In an official two‑part statement issued on 15 June 2026, the club made clear its strong objection to the decision, insisting that a valid and binding contract with Grech remained in force until 8 June 2027.

Floriana argued that Grech acted in bad faith, claiming he sought and obtained termination while disregarding an already‑confirmed contractual agreement. The club stated that such behaviour violates principles of contractual stability, good faith and sporting integrity under both MFA and FIFA regulations.

The Greens confirmed they are seeking legal advice and will pursue all available remedies before the MFA, FIFA, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the Maltese courts. They also reserved the right to take action against any parties they believe may have induced or contributed to the alleged contractual breach.
