FLORIANA FC CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION FOLLOWING VALLETTA FC ALLEGATIONS

Floriana FC have issued a strong statement in response to allegations made by historic rivals Valletta FC regarding a Greens player allegedly making “deeply offensive and disparaging” comments towards Valletta supporters during their recent semi-final clash.

In their response, Floriana FC stressed that any discussion of incidents surrounding the match must take into account “the full context of what transpired on and off the pitch.” The club rejected the one-sided narrative and instead raised a series of counter-claims regarding events during and after the game.

Floriana alleged that their players were subjected to abusive and insulting comments, including remarks directed at their goalkeeper by an opposing player. The club also stated that racist remarks targeting their players were witnessed and reported, allegedly coming from a section of Valletta supporters.

Additionally, Floriana raised serious concern over an incident in which one of their supporters was allegedly physically assaulted by an individual known to have links with Valletta FC, as well as a Valletta official, following the match.

The club concluded by calling on the Malta Football Association (MFA) to launch a full and impartial investigation into all incidents connected to the semi-final encounter, urging that all facts be properly examined before conclusions are drawn.
