First Six Fixtures For 2026/27 Season Announced By Malta Premier

Malta Premier have announced the first six fixtures for the 2026/27 season, which is expected to be a very competitive campaign, with new and established clubs eager to have a successful season.

Birzebbuga St Peter's became the 38th team to compete in the Maltese Premier League after securing promotion in a decider vs Swieqi, which they won on penalties. Balzan return to Premier League football after being relegated two seasons ago, securing promotion as Challenge League champions last season.

The new season is expected to bring high level competition, with already established clubs bolstering their teams with high profile Maltese and foreign players.

Sliema Wanderers acquired Henry Bonello and Alexander Satariano, with Maltese international midfielder and former League 1 player Teddy Theuma close to joining the Blues. Valletta remain hungry after last season's Premier League return, aiming to build on the previous season's success, which saw the lions clinch the FA Trophy and Jubilee Cup.

Birkirkara brought in Maltese international Zach Muscat after years playing overseas, returning to the club with which he started his senior career, while Joseph Mbong returned to his boyhood club Hibernians after nearly six seasons with Hamrun Spartans.

Mosta and Zabbar look to bounce back after narrowly escaping relegation in last season's survival deciders, in which the two teams beat Naxxar and Tarxien, respectively, causing their fall into the Challenge League.

Gzira United look to build on their positive season in which they had a consistent league campaign and made it to the FA Trophy final, narrowly falling to Valletta in a dramatic 2-1 encounter.

Hamrun and Marsaxlokk aim to repeat their top four finishes, with Floriana set to begin their title defence after being crowned champions during last season's finalissima.
