FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR 66TH EDITION OF GĦAZLIET SPORTIVI NAZZJONALI

The Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sport has revealed the finalists for the 66th edition of the Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali, Malta’s premier national sports awards. Members of the association were involved in voting to select five finalists in each category, with the exception of the Team of the Year, which featured six finalists due to a tie.

The finalists in the seven traditional categories include: Gianluca Chetcuti, Brian Cini, Jared Micallef, Fabio Spiteri, Mevrick Zammit for Sportsman of the Year; Haley Bugeja, Francesca Curmi, Sasha Gatt, Sophie St John, Tenishia Thornton for Sportswoman of the Year; and rising stars like Nick Bonett, Jake Castaldi, Jacob Micallef, Nathan Mifsud, Timmy Vassallo for Young Sportsman of the Year, with Chloe Amato, Kim Camilleri Lagana, Emily Fenech, Thea Parnis Coleiro, and Sophie St John competing for Young Sportswoman.

The People’s Choice Award finalists, determined entirely by public SMS vote, include athletes such as Neil Agius, Julia Galea, Matthew Galea Soler, Jake Gomez Blanco, and Team Gozo Dream.

The winners will be announced at the grand final on Saturday, 28 February 2026, with the semi-finals scheduled for Wednesday. Additional honours, including the Sport for Social Change Award, Fair Play Award, and induction into the Hall of Fame, will also be presented.
