Valletta Football Club has set an ambitious target of doubling home attendances within two years by making matchdays safer and more welcoming for families and supporters of all ages.

The Club will present a new policy to its Members’ Meeting this evening, proposing a zero-tolerance approach to throwing plastic cups, water bottles or other objects from the stands. The measures will include closer CCTV monitoring and firm sanctions against identified offenders.

A Club spokesperson remarked that “our objective is simple: in two years’ time, we want to see twice as many people in the stands, with many more families and older fans.”

The Club stressed that the policy follows an analysis showing over 98% compliance among supporters, highlighting that the overwhelming majority already behave responsibly.

Working alongside the Malta Premier League (MPL), Valletta FC aims to strengthen CCTV coverage, supported by reports from stewards and supporters. Footage will be reviewed to confirm identities before sanctions are imposed, with every breach reported to the MPL and MFA.

Under the proposed measures, offenders could face hefty fines and suspensions from all Club matches for up to three years.

The initiative forms part of a wider vision to improve the matchday experience through better facilities, fan zones and family-friendly activities.

If approved by members, the policy will require Executive Committee endorsement before being published on the Club’s website, social media channels and ticketing terms, as well as promoted in matchday fan zones.
