The 25th MAPFRE Euromed International Regatta, held in conjunction with the 3rd Europa Cup for the ILCA Class, concluded in Mellieħa Bay after four days of competitive racing hosted by the Malta Young Sailors Club. The event once again confirmed its growing prestige, attracting sailors from 39 countries, including competitors from Singapore, Australia, and Argentina, alongside a strong European presence.

The regatta featured high‑profile youth sailors, many with experience at the Optimist World Championships, reinforcing its status as a key fixture on the international sailing calendar. Maltese participation was equally strong, with all local clubs represented and athletes delivering solid performances across multiple fleets.

Challenging weather on the final day, marked by heavy rain and light winds, prevented further racing, but results from earlier races ensured the event could be concluded. Minor adjustments to Saturday’s standings followed the resolution of several protests.

In the Optimist Class, Slovenia’s Mihael Zobec claimed victory ahead of Italy’s Andrea Demurtas, while Malta’s Nathan Montebello secured a well‑earned third place. The ILCA fleets also produced notable results, including podium finishes for Timothy De Cesare, Timmy Vassallo, and standout performances from Emily Fenech and Tomek Vaccaro.

Organisers praised the rising level of competition and thanked volunteers, officials, and sponsors for their continued support.
