Maltese football clubs competing in UEFA competitions this season will once again receive financial support through a partnership between VisitMalta and the Malta Football Association (MFA), Tourism Minister Jo Etienne Abela has announced.

Under the scheme, each participating club will receive a €15,000 grant, with the VisitMalta brand also featuring on the teams' official match kits during their European campaigns.

The initiative has been running for several years as part of efforts to support Maltese clubs competing on the international stage.

The clubs benefiting this year are Floriana FC in the UEFA Champions League, Ħamrun Spartans FC, Marsaxlokk FC and Valletta FC in the UEFA Europa Conference League, Mġarr FC Women in the UEFA Women's Champions League, Luxol St Andrews in the UEFA Futsal Champions League, and Valletta FC in the UEFA Youth League.

Minister Abela said the agreement reflects the Government's continued commitment to supporting Maltese sport and helping local athletes and clubs represent the country abroad.

He added that sport has become an important platform for promoting Malta's identity, enhancing its international reputation and creating new opportunities.

He stressed that Malta's size should never limit sporting ambition, saying the success of local clubs on the European stage benefits the country as a whole.

Malta Tourism Authority Chief Executive Carlo Micallef said the partnership strengthens Malta's international profile through sport, while MFA President Bjorn Vassallo described the financial assistance as an important investment that will help clubs continue developing professionally and compete with greater confidence in European competitions.
