England Secure Place At 2026 World Cup With 5-0 Win

England have qualified for next summer’s 2026 World Cup after a commanding 5-0 win over Latvia in Riga.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have dominated Group K, winning all six matches without conceding a goal, and become the first European nation to secure their place at the tournament with two games to spare.
At the Daugava Stadium, the Three Lions led 3-0 at half-time through goals from Anthony Gordon and two from captain Harry Kane, one from the penalty spot.
Early in the second half, Djed Spence’s shot deflected off Latvian defender Maksims Tonisev for the fourth, before substitute Eberechi Eze added the fifth in the closing minutes.
England will finish their qualifying campaign against Serbia at Wembley on 13 November and Albania in Tirana on 16 November, having already beaten both sides earlier in the group.
The 2026 World Cup will take place from June to July across 16 cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The group stage draw will be held in Washington on 5 December, attended by FIFA president Gianni Infantino and US President Donald Trump. The final will feature the first-ever half-time show in the competition’s history.
