Sliema Wanderers midfielder Edmond “Mundu” Agius has officially announced that he will retire at the end of the current season, bringing to a close one of the most respected careers in Maltese football. The 38‑year‑old revealed his decision during a press conference held at Ta’ Qali ahead of Sliema’s much‑anticipated clash with Ħamrun Spartans.

Agius described the announcement as “the biggest decision of my life,” explaining that he chose to extend his career by one final season after being encouraged by former coach Paul Zammit. He also expressed gratitude to Sliema Wanderers for their continued trust, emphasising his determination to give everything to the club until the final whistle of his career.

Throughout his distinguished journey, Agius represented several of Malta’s top clubs, including Hibernians, Valletta, and Birkirkara, winning multiple honours and establishing himself as one of the league’s most reliable midfielders. His performances also earned him selection for the Malta National Team, where he contributed with commitment and consistency.
