Exclusive: Dragan Solak Set To Become Majority Owner of Żabbar St Patrick FC

Malta Daily Sports is informed that international businessman Dragan Solak owner of Southampton FC and co‑founder of Sport Republic is close to securing a majority shareholding in Żabbar St Patrick FC, in what is being described as one of the most impactful foreign investments ever made in Maltese football.

Sources familiar with the negotiations say discussions have intensified over the past days, with an agreement now understood to be in place, pending final regulatory clearance. Solak, whose football network spans Southampton, Göztepe S.K. and Valenciennes F.C., is expected to introduce Sport Republic’s modern, data‑driven football structures into Żabbar’s operations from scouting and youth development to long‑term strategic planning.

The move also carries a personal dimension. Solak, a proud Maltese citizen, is believed to view this investment as a way of giving back to Malta, integrating the expertise and networks built across his European football group into the local game.

If finalised, Żabbar St Patrick would become only the third Malta Premier League club operating as an S.L.L.C. with international backing.
