Dr Lydia Abela visits Malta Women’s Water Polo Team during World Cup

Dr Lydia Abela paid a visit to the Malta Women’s Water Polo National Team on Wednesday afternoon at the National Pool Complex in Tal‑Qroqq, offering her support as the squad contested its third match of the World Aquatics World Cup Division 2 tournament.

Her visit came as Malta faced a strong Croatian side, with the national team ultimately suffering a 22–11 defeat. Despite the result, the Maltese players showed determination throughout the encounter, continuing to build experience against high‑level opposition.

Before the match, Dr Abela met the players and coaching staff, commending their commitment and the extensive preparation undertaken ahead of the competition. She highlighted the importance of visibility and investment in women’s sport, noting the significance of Malta hosting matches in such a prestigious international event.
