Double Bronze Glory for Malta at World Blackball Championships

Malta celebrated an impressive achievement at the 2026 WPA Blackball World Championships in London, with the Men's A and Under-18 national teams securing bronze medals.
Competing at the Thistle Hotel Heathrow, Malta's Men's A team bounced back strongly after suffering a 13-8 semi-final defeat against England.
The Maltese players produced an outstanding performance in the third-place playoff, comfortably defeating Wales 13-3 to claim the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Malta's Under-18 team also delivered a remarkable campaign, narrowly losing 8-6 against South Africa in the semi-finals before securing an emphatic 8-1 victory over England to finish third.
Malta's success extended beyond the two medal-winning teams, with both the Men's B and Under-23 squads reaching the semi-finals of their respective categories.
The Men's B team narrowly missed out on bronze following a dramatic 13-12 defeat against the British Army, while the Under-23 side finished fourth after losing 8-5 against England.
With all four national teams reaching the semi-finals, Malta demonstrated its growing strength on the international blackball stage.
The Malta Blackball Pool Federation congratulated the players, coaches and officials for their dedication and achievements, describing the results as another proud moment for Maltese sport.
