DEBONO AND HADJIPOLYDOROU TRIUMPH IN SAFI 5K

Charlton Debono and Chrystalla Hadjipolydorou emerged victorious in the eighth edition of the Eurosport Safi 5K, the annual road race organised by Rush Athletics Club. The event attracted more than 380 athletes of all ages, further cementing its place in Malta’s running calendar.
In the men’s race, Charlton Debono of Evolve Endurance Club added another accolade to his impressive career, crossing the finish line in 15:39. He was followed by Jean Paul Debono of Żurrieq Wolves in 16:00, while Isaac Luca Scicluna of Rush AC secured third place with 16:28.
The women’s race saw Chrystalla Hadjipolydorou, a Cypriot athlete and nine-time national champion, claim victory in 18:32. She finished ahead of Rosalie Borg Cauchi of Pembroke, who clocked 18:48, and Isaura Camilleri of Żurrieq, who completed the podium in 19:11.
The event also featured a one-kilometre race for younger athletes aged 8 to 15. Rush AC’s Giacomo Portelli (U16) and Martina Scicluna (U14) took top honours, while other category winners included Skye Joe Borg, Jack Herrera Role’, Ben Tanti, Asia Psaila, Francesco Grima Portelli, Maria Sultana, Benjamin Massa, and Emma Jade Tabone.
Supported by Eurosport, Frank Salt, and Protein Malta, the Safi 5K once again showcased community spirit and athletic excellence.
