Daniel Debono Secures Historic Third Place At European Apprentice Drivers’ Championship

Maltese apprentice driver Daniel Debono achieved an outstanding third-place finish at the UET European Championship for Apprentice Drivers, held in Dundalk, Ireland.

Representing Malta in his first-ever international competition, Debono delivered an impressive performance to secure a place on the podium and finish among the top three drivers in the European championship.

Ireland’s Eoin Murphy claimed the overall title, taking first place, while Spain’s Adrià Riera Vaquer finished runner-up. Debono completed the podium in third place, marking a significant achievement for Maltese harness racing on the international stage.

Following the presentation ceremony, Debono expressed his happiness with the result and thanked everyone who supported him throughout the competition. He specifically acknowledged the Malta Racing Club and EquestriMalta for their support and for helping make his participation in the championship possible.

Debono also expressed his gratitude to his supporters, whose encouragement played an important role during his international debut.

His podium finish represents an excellent achievement not only for the young driver but also for Maltese harness racing, showcasing the talent and potential of local drivers on a European level.
