Danica Bonello Spiteri Claims Silver at Cross Duathlon European Championships

Danica Bonello Spiteri delivered another outstanding performance on the European stage, securing second place in the 45–49 age group at the Cross Duathlon European Championships. The race unfolded in extreme heat, with organisers even considering cancellation due to the intense conditions.

Bonello Spiteri opened strongly, completing the 6.6km run at pace to establish an early advantage. The demanding 19km mountain bike segment proved more challenging, with gravel paths, steep climbs and technical descents testing every athlete. A minor mechanical issue just two kilometres in forced her off the bike briefly, but she recovered quickly and pushed on with determination.

The final 3.2km run became a test of resilience, and Bonello Spiteri held her position to secure a hard‑earned silver medal.
