Dalton Wingfield & Stephen Camilleri Claim Podium in Emotional Hyrox Gent Pro Doubles Race

Dalton Wingfield and Stephen Camilleri delivered a courageous performance at the Hyrox Gent Pro Doubles event, securing a podium finish despite a race filled with dramatic highs and lows. The Maltese pair clocked an impressive 59:26, earning third place, yet narrowly missed out on a coveted World Championship qualification slot by just a few seconds.
The result left the athletes with mixed emotions. While proud to stand on the podium, both Wingfield and Camilleri expressed disappointment at falling just short of their ultimate target. Wingfield described the race as “a rollercoaster of emotions”, acknowledging that although the outcome was not what they had worked for, it would serve as motivation for what comes next.
The duo credited their progress to strong teamwork and the support system behind them. Camilleri’s consistency and Wingfield’s determination have made them one of Malta’s standout Hyrox pairings. They also thanked their coaching and support teams, including The Fit Studio, running coach Ryan Mex, and Coros Malta, as well as their families for their patience and encouragement throughout the season.
Despite the setback, both athletes remain focused on future competitions. As Wingfield put it, this was “a win in progress, a loss in outcome” and the pair intend to return stronger, more prepared, and ready to fight for qualification once again.
