Clint Vassallo To Represent Malta In Fegat European Championship In Vienna

The Malta Racing Club has selected experienced amateur driver Clint Vassallo to represent Malta in the 2026 FEGAT European Championship for Gentlemen Drivers, which will be held at Trabrennpark Krieau in Vienna, Austria, next Sunday 20th September.
Vassallo’s participation is being fully financed by EquestriMalta, whose continued support enables Maltese drivers to compete in prestigious international championships and represent the country on the European horseracing stage.
The championship’s racing programme will take place on Sunday, 20 September, with 13 drivers representing Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
The championship will be contested over 4 legs with the races held on the 2,100 metres distance. The first leg is scheduled for 3:00pm, followed by the remaining legs at 4:00pm, 4:30pm and 5:00pm. Vassallo has been drawn to drive Velvet Venus in the opening leg, Atalanta in the second race, Jace Renka TF in the third leg and Power Vita in the final championship race.
The Maltese representative is among the more experienced drivers in this year’s line-up. Licensed since 2001, Vassallo has registered 276 career victories, including 14 wins during the current season. He will be facing several accomplished international competitors, including Italy’s Matteo Zaccherini, Belgium’s Piet van Pollaert and Austria’s Thomas Royer.
This will be another important international appointment for Vassallo, who achieved Malta’s best-ever result in this championship when he represented the country in the 2024 edition held in Belgium finishing a positive third place.
His return to the competition offers him the opportunity to build upon that historic performance while once again carrying the Maltese colours at European level.
