Chris Peplow continued his impressive form at the World Snooker Federation Championship in Sofia, securing his second consecutive victory to remain top of Group X. The Maltese player recovered strongly after losing the opening frame to Thailand’s Lomnaw Issarangkun Na Ayuttaya, producing a commanding 63‑point break in the second frame and dominating the next two to seal a 3-2 win.

While Peplow celebrated another success, the remaining Maltese players endured a difficult day. Aaron Busuttil suffered his second defeat of the tournament, losing 3-2 to 15-year-old Chinese talent Wang Xinzhong, who produced a superb 105‑point break in the deciding frame. Alex Borg fell 3-0 to Northern Ireland’s Joel Connolly, and Chris Camilleri was defeated 3-1 by Mongolia’s Ganzorig Soyolsuren.

All seven Maltese competitors return to action on Tuesday, with crucial group-stage matches scheduled throughout the day as they aim to keep their qualification hopes alive.
