Chelsea FC Crowned Visit Malta Weekender Winners 2025

Chelsea opened the VisitMalta Weekender with a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge.

The match was their first friendly since claiming the FIFA Club World Cup for the second time in their history.

Chelsea sealed the victory late on when Joao Pedro met a diagonal pass centrally and fired a low, powerful strike past the goalkeeper.

The match provided a valuable pre-season test ahead of the new campaign.

After the game, Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef presented the trophy to captain Reece James, with Chairperson Charles Mangion also present.

The VisitMalta sponsorship highlighted Malta as a vibrant travel destination, with promotional displays at Stamford Bridge and Fulham Broadway station. Chelsea face AC Milan next on Sunday.
