The Cameroon selection emerged as winners of the inaugural African Unity Cup 2026 after defeating Nigeria 4-3 on penalties in the final played at the Sirens Stadium.

The match, attended by a good crowd of supporters, ended 2-2 after regular time before being decided by a penalty shootout.

The tournament featured six teams being Nigeria, Gambia, Sudan, Cameroon, Ghana, and Kenya, made up largely of players competing in the Malta FA leagues. The competition was played in a league format, with the teams finishing first and second in the standings qualifying for the final.

The President of the Organising Committee, Jonathan Onuoha, praised the success of the event and thanked all the participating teams for their commitment, while expressing his hope that the competition will continue to grow in the coming years.
