Birzebbuga Secure Challenge Cup After Dominant Display

Birzebbuga St Peter's secured the BOV Challenge Cup after a dominant 3-0 display against Melita on Sunday morning.

This is Birzebbuga's second success of the season, after claiming promotion to the Premier League last week, where they beat Swieqi on penalties in a nail biting promotion decider.

The team was eager to add to their success and secure silverware after missing out on the league title to Balzan. The blues went in front when Alex Bruno de Souza Silva converted a penalty in the 29th minute, as they headed into the break a goal up.

Birzebbuga sealed the win in the second half through goals by Paul Lapira and Zachary Cassar, in the 72nd and 78th minute, respectively, giving the blues a deserved win in a game dominated from start to finish.

The trophy was presented to the team by Malta FA Senior Vice President Dr Matthew Paris and BOV Head of CSR and Events Charles Azzopardi. De Souza Silva was named BOV Player of the Match.
