Birżebbuġa Sailing Club Freeport Crowned Best Club at Lake Garda Meeting 2026

Birżebbuġa Sailing Club Freeport has made history at the 44th edition of the , securing the prestigious title of Best Club of 2026 and marking an unprecedented achievement for Maltese sailing.

Competing against a fleet of over 1,000 sailors from around the world, BSC delivered an exceptional team performance. Seven out of ten sailors qualified for the highly competitive Gold Fleet, while the remaining athletes competed in the Silver, Bronze, and Emerald fleets, showcasing depth, consistency, and high-level competitiveness across the entire team.

This landmark result represents the first time a Maltese sailing club has claimed the Best Club title at the Lake Garda Meeting, a coveted title by Sailing Clubs around the world.

“This achievement is a testament to the dedication, and unity of our sailors, coaches, and support team,” said Mario Aquilina, club commodore. “To compete at this level is already an accomplishment, to emerge as the top club is truly extraordinary.”
