Birkirkara FC has issued an official statement after uncovering a fraudulent transfer attempt involving one of its players. Earlier today, reports surfaced online, prompting the Club to clarify the situation.

The Club confirmed that it had received what appeared to be a lucrative offer from an individual falsely impersonating a sporting director of a German club. The player was also approached directly and presented with terms that seemed highly attractive. In recent days, Birkirkara FC worked closely with the player to explore the possibility of a move to a stronger league with improved personal conditions.

However, suspicions arose when the Club was asked to pay a temporary “transfer tax,” allegedly refundable. Thanks to the swift intervention of Birkirkara FC’s legal team and support from ECA lawyers, the proposal was quickly identified as fraudulent. The German club later confirmed the scam and revealed that a police investigation is already underway following similar reports from other clubs.

Birkirkara FC expressed its gratitude to its legal advisors, the ECA, and the German club for their cooperation in safeguarding the Club’s interests.
