BIG WIN FOR SWIEQI UNITED, PEMBROKE SCORE LATE TO SECURE IMPORTANT WIN

In League C – Phase 1 Matchday 5, Rabat Ajax FC held onto top spot with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mgarr United. Gianluca Farrugia struck in the 36th minute, finding space and firing past goalkeeper Nick Vassallo to secure the win. Despite Mgarr’s second-half pressure, Rabat stood firm to claim the crucial points.
Close rivals Swieqi United produced a stunning performance, dismantling Tarxien Rainbows FC 11-0. Captain Keene Spiteri was unstoppable, scoring six goals, including a hat-trick inside 18 minutes and a penalty in the 64th minute. Other scorers included Deric Coulaud, Zack Fisher, Mark Bianchi, and Matthias De’ Raffaele, while Tarxien’s Axl Zammit Plum added an own goal. Swieqi’s dominance keeps them firmly in contention.
Further down the table, Pembroke Athleta FC edged Luqa St Andrew’s FC 1-0 in a tense affair. Substitute Diansen Muscat struck in the 89th minute to seal the win, lifting Pembroke to sixth place, just behind Luqa.

In League D – Phase 1 Matchday 7, leaders Attard FC extended their perfect run to seven wins, beating Ghaxaq FC 6-1. Ghaxaq shocked early with Aiden Glanville’s opener, but Attard responded through Isaac Borg (34’), who later completed a hat-trick with goals in the 80th and 90th minutes. Sheldon Bajada (57’) and Jayden Agius (75’, 85’ pen) also found the net in a commanding display.
Second-placed Msida St Joseph FC kept pace with a 2-0 win over Sirens FC. After a goalless first half, Kayden Mifsud broke the deadlock before converting a penalty six minutes later to secure victory and maintain pressure on Attard.
With Rabat and Attard continuing their dominance, and Swieqi and Msida showing strong form, the race for top spots promises more drama in the coming weeks.
