Azzopardi and Bonello Spiteri Crowned National Champions at Gozo Sprint Duathlon 2026

The Gozo Sprint Duathlon National Championship 2026, held on Sunday 15th March, delivered an action‑packed day of racing with impressive performances across all categories. Kai Azzopardi (Agones) claimed the Men’s National Champion title after a dominant display, while Danica Bonello Spiteri (Pembroke Athleta) secured the Women’s National Champion crown. Although Zia Fujii (Shamrock Stars) crossed the line first overall in the women’s race, the national title is awarded to the top Maltese athlete.
Age‑group winners showcased the depth of local talent, with victories for Mark Anthony Scicluna (25+), Gianluca Sciberras (30+), Frank Attard (35+), Josef Azzopardi (40+), Ben Psaila (45+), Adrian Bezzina (50+) and Charles Camilleri (55+). Female winners included Lindsey Pirotta (30+) and Bonello Spiteri (45+).

In the junior and youth divisions, Nathan Pace claimed the Junior Male title, while Liam Daly and Aiden Muscat secured a strong 1–2 for Shamrock Stars in the Youth Male race. Fujii also topped the Youth Female category.
Development races saw standout wins from Jake Refalo, Kruiven Farrugia, and Francesco Grima Portelli, rounding off a highly competitive championship that highlighted the strength and promise of Maltese multisport athletes.
