Athletics Malta Strengthens Coaching Pathways Through Intensive Training Camps

Athletics Malta has wrapped up two highly productive weekends of its ongoing Training Camps programme, pairing athlete preparation with a series of specialised educational workshops designed to elevate the nation’s coaching standards. The initiative brought together experts from across Europe to deliver targeted sessions addressing key developmental areas for young athletes.
Antonio Laguardia led a detailed workshop on jumping ability, emphasising its importance across all athletics disciplines from sprints and jumps to throws and endurance events. His session highlighted practical methods coaches can integrate into daily training to build explosive power and coordination.
Nicola Silvaggi delivered two well‑received workshops, the first focusing on motor skill development for children aged 6–10, offering coaches age‑appropriate activities to build foundational movement patterns. His second session shifted to strength development for athletes aged 10–14, providing practical guidance on safe, progressive training for young competitors.
Fabio Pilori added further value with an introduction to pole vault fundamentals, equipping coaches with essential technical knowledge for nurturing future talent in this demanding event.
These workshops ran alongside National Team training sessions, ensuring a holistic approach to athlete and coach development. Athletics Malta expressed gratitude to SportMalta and the Malta Olympic Committee for their continued support in driving these important initiatives forward.
