Athletics Malta Launches Tallinja Malta Youth International Athletics Festival

Athletics Malta has announced the first edition of the Tallinja Malta Youth International Athletics Festival, a new event on the national sporting calendar which will take place on 4 July 2026 at the Matthew Micallef St. John Stadium.

The festival, driven by Athletics Malta’s Youth Technical Committee, is aimed at athletes born between 2009 and 2015 and seeks to provide young competitors with an international-level experience on home soil. The initiative is designed to mirror the standards of overseas competitions, giving Maltese athletes greater exposure and opportunities for development without the need to travel abroad.

The festival is backed by Malta Public Transport following a four-year agreement with Athletics Malta. Chairman Felipe Cosmen said the company was proud to support initiatives promoting youth participation and healthy lifestyles.

Athletics Malta President Mario Bonello described the festival as a major milestone for local athletics and an important step in preparation for the Commonwealth Youth Games, which Malta will host next year.
