Athletics Malta has announced the Road Running League for the 2026/2027 season, with the six-race series set to be retained after the success of the past two seasons.

The league will feature three 5km and three 10km races, with the programme including four popular races around Malta and Gozo as well as the Athletics Malta 10K and 5K National Championships at Ta’ Qali.

All six races will be held on routes officially measured and certified by World Athletics, ensuring that the distances are accurate and performances are recognised for official purposes, including records and qualifications to international competitions.

The 2026/2027 Road Running League will get underway on 1 November with the Nadur 10k race , followed by a 5k race on 6 December hosted by Rush AC in Safi.

Athletics Malta will then host the 10K National Championship at Ta’ Qali on 24 January, before the series continues with the St Patrick’s AC 10K on 19 March. The 5K National Championship will take place at Ta’ Qali on 11 April, with the league concluding with the Libertas AC 5K race in Mosta on 23 May.

Once again, the Athletics Malta Road Running League, which is expected to attract Malta’s top athletes as well as amateur and casual runners, will feature both individual and club competitions, with Gabriel Farrugia and Roberta Schembri aiming to defend their individual titles, while Żurrieq Wolves will be looking to retain both the men’s and mixed team titles.

Registrations are now open, with athletes required to register through their affiliated club.
