The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta (ASA) has endorsed yesterday's budget announcement, which grants elite athletes up to ten days of paid leave.

The ASA remarked that "in recent years, teams and athletes affiliated with the Aquatic Sports Association have significantly increased their participation in top-level international competitions. The ASA therefore warmly welcomes yesterday’s budget announcement, which grants elite athletes up to ten days of paid leave."

The association said that "alongside the other support we receive from the authorities, this measure recognises the efforts of our athletes and the professional teams that support them."

The ASA also stated that it "welcomes the news that this leave will be extended to technical and medical staff. These are positive signs that Maltese sport is striving for higher levels and receiving the support needed to reach them."

The aquatic association "looks ahead to continued efforts in the field of aquatic sports, with investments in infrastructure as well as in the development of our nation's swimmers."
