April 2025 delivered one of the most action‑packed sporting months Malta has seen in recent years, with football, swimming, and elite military competition all taking centre stage. Across stadiums, pools, and barracks, athletes showcased exceptional talent, resilience, and national pride.
Football dominated headlines as the 360Sports Malta Premier League entered its decisive phase. Late‑April fixtures confirmed Sliema Wanderers, Ħamrun Spartans, Floriana, and Birkirkara as the four teams advancing to the highly anticipated Final Four. The month also brought excitement in the women’s game, with Hibernians and Mġarr United booking their places in the Assikura Women’s Knock‑Out Final, setting up a compelling showdown between two of the league’s most consistent sides.
In the pool, the 32nd Easter International Swimming Meet, held from 23 to 26 April at the National Pool Complex, attracted top swimmers from across Europe. The event delivered standout performances, including new national records and a dominant showing by Sliema ASC, who collected an impressive haul of medals and lifted the Centenary Swimming Club Trophy as part of ASA’s 100‑year celebrations. Rising stars and established athletes alike contributed to one of the strongest editions of the meet in recent memory.
Rounding off the month was the adrenaline‑charged Malta Military Games 2025, held from 25 to 27 April at Luqa Barracks. With 153 elite competitors battling across four demanding divisions, the event showcased extraordinary strength, endurance, and tactical skill. The Armed Forces of Malta once again delivered a world‑class competition that drew enthusiastic crowds and reinforced Malta’s growing reputation for hosting high‑level sporting events.
