ANDREI FENECH SECURES PODIUM FOR GLD RACING IN THRILLING MALTA KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP OPENER

GLD Racing driver Andrei Fenech delivered a remarkable performance in the opening round of the Malta Karting Championship, claiming a hard-fought P3 podium finish despite unpredictable conditions and last-minute technical drama.

Qualifying placed Andrei in P8, setting up a challenging start. The Pre-Final tested every driver as shifting weather alternated between rain and sunshine, creating a slippery and inconsistent track. Showing composure and skill, Andrei climbed to P6, keeping himself in contention.

The real drama unfolded just 30 minutes before the Final, when a critical engine issue threatened to end the day early. In a tense moment, Andrei’s father and team mechanic, Ryan Fenech, carried out urgent repairs trackside. “Giving up was never an option,” Ryan said. “We worked fast and got Andrei back on track.”

Starting the Final from P6, Andrei attacked aggressively, moving into third place by Lap 2 and holding strong until the chequered flag. “After the engine problem, I wanted to repay the team’s effort,” Andrei said. “Finishing on the podium feels amazing.”
