Ħamrun Sporting Football Club Successfully Completes First International Training Camp

Ħamrun Sporting Football Club has successfully completed the first International Training Camp in the club’s history, held in Skiathos, Greece, between 18 and 20 September 2026.

The camp represents an important milestone in the club’s continued development and a significant moment for Maltese amateur football, with Ħamrun Sporting becoming the first non-league amateur team from Malta to organise an international training camp abroad.

The programme included training sessions, club networking activities, media commitments and an international friendly match against Atletico Skiathos.
The friendly ended in a 1-1 draw, following a disciplined, positive and competitive
performance by Ħamrun Sporting against the host side.

However, the purpose of the camp extended well beyond the sporting aspect. The visit also served to strengthen the relationship between Ħamrun Sporting Football Club and Atletico Skiathos, while creating a solid foundation for further collaboration between the two clubs.

During the visit, discussions were also held regarding the next stage of this international partnership, with both clubs already exploring the possibility of Atletico Skiathos visiting Malta in 2027 as a continuation of this collaboration and to further strengthen ties on both a sporting and organisational level.

For Ħamrun Sporting, this training camp represents another important step in the club’s vision to continue growing, create new opportunities for its players and establish meaningful relationships with clubs beyond Malta.

The club thanked Atletico Skiathos for their hospitality and cooperation, as well as all players, staff, partners and everyone who contributed towards making this first international experience a success.
