Ħamrun Spartans Announce Coaching Change as Stefano Sanderra Takes the Helm

Ħamrun Spartans FC have confirmed a significant change in leadership, announcing that the Club has mutually agreed to part ways with Head Coach Giacomo Modica. The decision, described by the Club as one taken with “immense pain and disappointment,” closes a memorable chapter marked by Modica’s historic achievement guiding Ħamrun to the UEFA Conference League Group Stage, a first in Maltese football history. His contribution has cemented his place in the Club’s legacy, and the Spartans expressed heartfelt gratitude for his dedication and professionalism.
Stepping into the role is Stefano Sanderra, a seasoned coach with over 30 years of experience across Italian and Maltese football. Sanderra is no stranger to success on the island, having previously won domestic honours and twice being named Malta FA Coach of the Year. His recent spell with Lazio Primavera where he secured promotion to Primavera 1 and lifted the Primavera 2 Supercoppa further highlights his ability to build competitive, ambitious squads.
As Ħamrun Spartans continue their pursuit of excellence both in Malta and in European competitions, the Club extends a warm welcome to Sanderra.
