Ħamrun Left Ruing Missed Chances as Marco Amelia Calls for Reaction

Ħamrun Spartans suffered a painful 1–0 defeat to Birkirkara, conceding in the 88th minute after dominating large stretches of the match. The Spartans created several clear chances but, as in their previous outing against Mosta where they produced 27 opportunities, they failed to convert their superiority into goals.

Coach Marco Amelia expressed disappointment at the result, stressing that the team’s performances deserve more. He highlighted that the players are working hard despite recent instability, having gone through three coaches in two months, and insisted that unity and consistency remain essential.

“We had enough chances to win,” Amelia said. “We must keep working together to change results.” His message was echoed by captain Zach Muscat’s decisive header for Birkirkara, which punished Ħamrun’s wastefulness in front of goal.
