Ħamrun drawn against NSÍ Runavík in Conference League opener

Ħamrun Spartans will begin their UEFA Conference League journey with a First Qualifying Round clash against NSÍ Runavík of the Faroe Islands, following Tuesday’s draw.
The Spartans, seeded in the draw, will be encouraged by Runavík’s recent European record. The Faroese club failed to progress past the First Qualifying Round in each of the last two editions of the competition, a trend Hamrun will hope continues as they aim to replicate last season’s historic run to the league phase the first ever by a Maltese club.
NSÍ Runavík currently compete in the Faroe Islands’ top division and sit among the league’s stronger sides, with players such as Petur Knudsen and Michal Przybylski contributing regularly in attack. Their recent domestic form shows a mix of high‑scoring wins and narrow defeats, underlining their unpredictability.
Ħamrun will play the first leg away on 9 July, before hosting the return match on 16 July, as they look to take a decisive step toward another European campaign of significance.
