Alex Borg promises Dedicated Sports Ministry

Opposition leader Alex Borg has promised a dedicated sports ministry should the Nationalist Party win the next general election.

PN Leader Alex Borg visited the Mediterranean College of Sport, emphasising the importance of opening more opportunities for children and young people in sport.
In a statement released by the PN, the opposition party claimed that "a new Nationalist Government will continue to elevate children and young people in sport and further strengthen all athletes by appointing a Minister focused exclusively on sport," highlighting the Nationalist Party's aim to enhance sport in Malta.

Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista Alex Borg toured the complex and saw how many students are benefiting from an educational model that successfully combines academia and sport to provide them with the holistic development they seek. Alex Borg also met students at this independent school while they were practising various sporting disciplines.

The Mediterranean College of Sport is equipped with top-level facilities dedicated to a various number of sports. In addition to academic subjects, the College offers training in football, water polo, swimming and artistic swimming, artistic gymnastics, karate, sailing, tennis, padel, basketball and dance, among others.

Apart from the excellent sports facilities at the independent school, Alex Borg also visited the classrooms where academic teaching takes place, as the College offers virtually all key academic subjects. The College currently caters for students at primary, secondary and post-secondary (Sixth Form) levels.
The College’s management explained that it also welcomes a number of students on scholarships and expressed the hope that more students will be given this opportunity.

For his part, Alex Borg pledged that a new Nationalist Government will not only provide full support to institutions such as this, but will also ensure that more children and young people can benefit from scholarships to take advantage of all that the Mediterranean College of Sport has to offer.

Borg concluded by stating that the Partit Nazzjonalista truly believes that every youngster should have the opportunity to develop both academically as well as in their respective sporting disciplines, allowing them to become not only successful athletes but also stronger citizens.
