Alec Fenech makes history with Romanian league triumph

Alec Fenech has written his name into Maltese sporting history, becoming the first Maltese water polo player to win a league title abroad after being crowned 2026 Romanian Champion with CSA Steaua București.

Steaua secured their 21st national title following a thrilling five‑match final series against rivals CSM Oradea, with the decisive clash ending in a tense 10–9 victory. The championship run showcased the team’s resilience, and Fenech played a key role throughout the season, contributing consistently at one of Europe’s most competitive levels.

For the 22‑year‑old, this achievement marks a significant milestone in his rapidly rising career.
