Adidas Eurosport TERREX Trail Running League Kicks Off with Thrilling Wied Qirda Opener

The Adidas Eurosport TERREX Trail Running League burst into action on Sunday, 25 January, with an exhilarating opening race at Wied Qirda that set the tone for an exciting season ahead. The dramatic valley provided a breathtaking backdrop as athletes tackled a demanding route featuring steep climbs, rocky paths, and rapid descents that tested both endurance and technique.

Runners from across Malta and beyond gathered for the much‑anticipated first event, creating a vibrant atmosphere that celebrated both competition and community. Warren Muscat, President of Agones SFC, praised the event’s success, noting that the race embodied the league’s core values of challenge, camaraderie, and a shared passion for the outdoors.

The men’s category saw Luigi Grech claim victory in an impressive 25:42, followed by Ryan Saliba Gazzano and Darren Sultana. In the women’s field, Rosalie Borg Cauchi led the pack with a strong 31:25, ahead of Candice Noally and Tara Abdilla.
