Aaron Busuttil Crowned European Six Reds Champion

Aaron Busuttil capped off a superb campaign at the European Snooker Championship in Sofia by winning the Six Reds individual title on Sunday. He first overcame teammate Chris Peplow in an all‑Maltese semi‑final, before defeating Germany’s Alexander Widau 5–3 in a best‑of‑nine final.

Widau took the opening frame, but Busuttil replied instantly and moved ahead by the third. The contest remained tight as both players alternated frame wins, yet Busuttil stayed in control throughout. In the decisive frame, he produced a superb 49‑point break, securing his first European Six Reds crown after last year’s third‑place finish.

Earlier in the day, Busuttil also achieved the best Maltese result in the Shoot Out, reaching the quarter‑finals. These performances wrapped up Malta’s twelve‑day participation, with MBSA President Ivan Brincat hailing the contingent’s achievements: three bronze medals, one silver and Busuttil’s gold Malta’s strongest showing in the championship’s history.

Four Maltese players Busuttil, Alex Borg, Joseph Casha, Caiden Casha and Brian Cini will now remain in Sofia to begin the European Q Tour, joining 109 competitors from 24 nations.
