3,000 Participants Take Part In Summer Edition Of Let's Move Malta

Around 3,000 participants are taking part in this year's edition of the Let's Move Malta summer programme, a SportMalta initiative that promotes a more active and healthy lifestyle among children, young people, and adults.
Over the course of the programme's eight weeks, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sporting activities organised across seven centres in Malta and Gozo.
The activities include swimming, athletics, football, gymnastics, fitness, dance, judo, and sailing, among others. They are being delivered by more than 180 qualified coaches and helpers, ensuring a safe, educational, and high-quality experience for all participants.
The Minister for Education and Sport, Byron Camilleri, together with SportMalta Chief Executive Officer Mark Cutajar, visited the Cottonera Sports Complex, where they met participants, parents, coaches, and helpers while observing the Let's Move Malta activities. During the visit, they also toured the sports infrastructure projects currently under development within the complex, which form part of the Government's ongoing investment in strengthening sports facilities across the country.
Minister Byron Camilleri said that "when we invest in sport, we are investing in people. Through programmes such as Let's Move Malta, we are creating more opportunities for children, young people, and families to adopt a more active lifestyle, while also developing important values such as discipline, teamwork, and respect. This is a direct investment in the well-being and quality of life of the Maltese and Gozitan people," Camilleri remarked.
He also highlighted that, through this programme, children learn how to swim, an essential life skill for an island nation such as Malta. He stressed that this contributes to raising awareness about water safety and helps reduce the risk of accidents that, unfortunately, still occur from time to time.
SportMalta CEO Mark Cutajar argued that "the fact that, year after year, thousands of people choose Let's Move Malta is a testament to the quality of this programme and to the dedication of our coaches, helpers, and all our staff. Through their commitment, we continue to provide a positive sporting experience that encourages more people to make sport part of their everyday lives," Cutajar remarked.
Through Let's Move Malta, SportMalta continues to fulfil its mission of making sport more accessible and encouraging more people to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle.
