Sotto Zero Treats Firefighters Who Battled Massive Hal Far Blaze

Following the successful extinguishing of the large industrial fire in Ħal Far, local gelateria Sotto Zero stepped in to show appreciation for the 80 firefighters who worked tirelessly through the night.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Sotto Zero wrote, “While we all slept, they kept our community safe,” adding that they chose to thank these brave individuals in the best way they knew how, with free, cold, creamy, and delicious ice cream.

The message ended with a powerful tribute: “We are proud of you, your courage inspires us, and your sweat deserves a sweet reward.”

The Civil Protection Department confirmed that the fire, which broke out at an industrial site in Ħal Far, was successfully brought under control without any reported injuries. The operation was a major effort, involving 900,000 litres of water, 80 firefighters, 10 senior officers, 20 fire appliances, and 16 continuous hours of firefighting.

In a public notice, Civil Protection Malta extended its gratitude to several supporting agencies including the Malta Police Force, Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department, Malta International Airport Fire Section, Transport Malta, WasteServ, Enemalta, and others, whose combined efforts ensured a safe and effective emergency response.
