Sony has officially announced the PS5 Pro, a more powerful version of the PS5, launching on November 7th for $699.99.
The console offers significant hardware upgrades, including a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI-driven upscaling, according to lead architect Mark Cerny.
With 67% more GPU compute units and 28% faster memory, the PS5 Pro enables 45% faster rendering, improved game detail, and higher frame rates without sacrificing visual fidelity.
The PS5 Pro also introduces AI-powered PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), similar to Nvidia’s DLSS, for better frame rates and image quality.
Games like Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part II will benefit from enhanced graphics at 60fps, while older PS4 and PS5 titles will also see improved performance via the “Game Boost” feature.
The console includes Wi-Fi 7, VRR, and 8K support, as well as a 2TB SSD, with an additional SSD slot and more USB-C ports. Up to 50 games will receive free updates labeled as PS5 Pro Enhanced, including titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Gran Turismo 7.
Preorders start on September 26th. The PS5 Pro is compatible with PS5 accessories, the PlayStation VR2 headset, and the PlayStation Portal handheld.
