Sixth Turtle Nest of 2025 Begins to Hatch At Ramla l-Ħamra

The Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) has confirmed that the final turtle nest of the season has started hatching at Ramla l-Ħamra in Gozo. Over 40 hatchlings began their journey to the sea during the night, marking the beginning of the end of this year’s turtle season.

ERA officials and Nature Trust – FEE Malta (NTM) volunteers have been working together to protect the nesting sites throughout the season. Their efforts have included monitoring the nests and ensuring the safety of the hatchlings.

Visitors to the site are reminded to; Keep noise to a minimum, avoid using bright lights near the nest and follow instructions from volunteers on site.
