Over the weekend, a high school girls’ volleyball team in Telluride, Colorado, invited Selena Gomez to attend one of their games, and she surprised them by showing up.
Gomez, in town to promote her film Emilia Pérez at the Telluride Film Festival, was drawn in by a bright orange, handwritten sign posted on Main Street that requested her presence and asked her to sing the national anthem.

Although it is unclear if she actually performed, Gomez made a surprise visit to the school gym, where she interacted with students, signed autographs, and posed for photos with the team.
Videos of her visit circulated online, and Gomez herself posted about the experience on Instagram, expressing her excitement and sharing that she was motivated by the sign. Her post featured her smiling and explaining, “I saw the sign!”
Gomez’s film Emilia Pérez, directed by Jacques Audiard and featuring an ensemble cast including Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Adriana Paz, premiered at Cannes, where it won the Best Actress prize. The film made its U.S. debut at the Telluride Film Festival and will be available on Netflix starting November 13.
