Malta International Airport announced an adjustment to its 2024 traffic forecast and financial guidance, projecting 8.45 million passengers by year-end, an increase of approximately 650,000 passengers from 2023.
Building on record results from 2023, the airport reported a strong first quarter in 2024, with expectations of steady growth throughout the year. In April, Malta International Airport welcomed 774,562 passengers, marking a 9.3% growth in traffic volumes compared to the same period in 2023, alongside a 9.6% increase in aircraft movements.
Although seat capacity increased by 10.5% over 2023, the average seat occupancy on flights slightly decreased to 83.8%.
April’s top markets were Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Poland. The United Kingdom (+23.9%), Germany (+4.5%), and Poland (+47.0%) outperformed their 2023 results, while the Italian and French markets saw year-on-year declines of 2.8% and 3.8%, respectively.
Given the strong performance to date and a positive outlook for the remainder of 2024, Malta International Airport has revised its financial projections. The airport now expects revenues to total €132 million and a net profit of €44 million.

Kyannah Mizzi Debono is a 19 year old working in finance who took a break to enter the Love Island Villa.
