In a remarkable show of solidarity and support, HopeXchange Malta, in collaboration with Malta Marathon and the Obstacle Course Academy, is organising a charity run to raise funds for the HopeXchange Medical Center in Kumasi, Ghana – also know as The Maltese Hospital in Ghana.

This vital event is set to take place on the picturesque grounds of Verdala Palace, Siggiewi, on July 14th at 7:00 am.

The Maltese Hospital in Ghana has been a beacon of hope for poor patients in Kumasi since it opened its doors in 2016.

Operating in one of the poorest regions of Africa, the centre relies heavily on financial aid to continue providing essential healthcare services.

Generous support from numerous institutions and thousands of Maltese families has been instrumental in sustaining this project.

This event will be held under the auspices of HE Dr. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta.

Participation in this event is more than just a race; it is a direct contribution to the ongoing healthcare services and education provided to marginalised communities in Kumasi, Ghana.

Event Details:

This comprehensive assessment includes a 3D biomechanical analysis for enhanced running performance, injury prevention, and pain management.

Additionally, prizes from Eurosport Malta will be raffled off at the end of the event, giving every participant a chance to win.

The race begins at the majestic Verdala Palace, taking participants past the charming Villa Psaigon, through the picturesque upper part of Had-Dingli, and offering breathtaking countryside views. The route continues past the esteemed Savio College before concluding back at Verdala Palace.

Kamra Tal-Periti’s Plans To Transform Msida Core Into Park

Kamra Tal-Periti's Plans To Transform Msida Core Into Park
Jun 24 2024 Share

The Chamber of Architects (KTP) has proposed an alternative to the Msida Creek Project, envisioning a 20,000-square-metre park with over 2,000 trees instead of the planned flyover.

The chamber believes this transformation would improve traffic flow by adding a slip road to the Regional Road and reorganizing the current road infrastructure, routing traffic around Msida.

The proposal aims to be completed in less time, at no extra cost, and with minimal disruption to residents, providing a green space in one of the country’s most polluted areas.

KTP president Andre Pizzuto explained that the chamber had not been consulted on the government’s plans and worked voluntarily on its proposal. He urged the government to consider this “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” before construction begins next month.

The chamber’s plan involves diverting traffic west of the junction near Valley Road, closing Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli to cars (allowing only buses and taxis), and converting the road into sports grounds and a children’s play area.

Pizzuto criticized the flyover plan for merely shifting traffic congestion and emphasized that removing traffic lights would enhance flow and reduce tailbacks.

The KTP proposal also includes expanding and redesigning the skatepark for better facilities, promoting sustainable land use and improved quality of life for the local community. The chamber insists the project could be completed ahead of schedule if the government submits new plans to the Planning Authority soon.
