UK Radio Hosts React To Malta’s Song ‘KANT’

UK Radio Hosts React To Malta's Song 'KANT'
Feb 11 2025 Share

A video shared on social media of UK radio hosts working at Cork’s 96fm captures their reaction listening to Miriana Conte’s song ‘KANT’.

While the title of the song means ‘singing’ in Maltese, doubts have been raised as to whether the song will have to be censored on BBC – and Eurovision itself – due to the double-meaning association with the word ‘c*nt’.

This comes after BBC Radio 2 host Scott Mills said that ‘we definitely can’t play a clip of it, ever, on the BBC.’

Despite there being no banned words, the Office of Communications requires broadcasters to adhere to generally accepted standards when it comes to certain language.

Mariana herself said: ‘Controversial song? Maybe. Bold outfit? Possibly. But we did it. This win is for Malta. Let’s serve KANT in Basel.’

We’ll have to see whether the song will face some censorship at Eurovision.
